Winter Fishing in S.W. Florida

Winter fishing in S.W. Florida is more about fun fishing than it is about chasing monsters. Snook, Trout, Redfish, Sheepshead, Tripletail, and smaller sharks (blacktips, lemons, and blacknose) are the most targeted species in these colder months. It’s not to say that we don’t hook tarpon and big bull sharks this time of year, it’s just not something we count on.

One of the great things about the winter fish we target is that they are delicious, and you can catch and keep enough of them for a very nice dinner. Another great thing about winter fishing in S.W. Florida is that the fish are really kind of easy to find and have great appetites. Shrimp are the top bait for most of these fish, but the soft plastics are also very productive this time of year.

If you are getting the wintertime blues and just need to wet a line, give Capt. Mike a call, book a trip, and cast those blues away.
